The cruise ship Nieuw Statendam of the Holland America Line visited Bonaire for the first time on 25th of January 2019.
During the inaugural visit representatives of the different stakeholders; OLB, Tourism Corporation Bonaire, Harbor Office and Armada Shipping agency boarded the ship for the welcome ceremony. Ms. Xenah Cicilia, cruise coordinator for Tourism Corporation Bonaire was part of the delegation and presented a plaque to Captain Sybe de Boer, to commemorate the first visit of the cruise ship. The lieutenant governor was also present and did the official handover of the Bonerian flag and the harbourmaster gifted the captain with an impressive picture of the ship entering our harbor.
The M/S Nieuw Statendam is the second ship of the new Pinnacle ship class and the sister ship of the M/S Koningsdam, which started its debut season in April 2016. With 99,500 GRT, the Nieuw Statendam, accommodates up to 2,650 passengers and is equipped with all the amenities the Pinnacle class has to offer.
