On November 1-4, 2017, Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) was represented by Emilayla Coffi, Marketing Assistant of TCB-Headquarters and TCB-North America representative Marie Rose at the 41st Annual DEMA Show. The Show was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Over the course of the four-day event, thousands of Show attendees including, dive industry professionals and members of the media visited the TCB Booth in the Bonaire Pavilion to either familiarize themselves with the destination or to see old friends to discuss plans and programs slated for 2018 travel. Representatives were on-site to assist with potential dive retailers, address questions and concerns and distribute promotional materials. The Bonaire Pavilion was comprised of representatives from AB Dive, Avis Bonaire, Bellafonte Bonaire, BONHATA, Buddy Dive Resort, Budget Rent A Car, Captain Don’s Habitat, Courtyard Marriott Bonaire, Deep Sea Bonaire, Delfins Beach Resort, Den Laman Condominiums, Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino, Eden Beach Resort, Island Express, Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire, QVillas, Sand Dollar Condominiums, STINAPA, Terramar Apartments and VIP Diving.

“It’s excellent to hear that it was another successful show for the Bonaire Pavilion,” commented Malinda Hassell, Marketing Manager of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “Most of the attendees that visited the Pavilion have been to Bonaire before, and expressed that they will continue to sell the destination to their dive groups. The ease of diving on island is one of the main reasons they continue to send their clients to the island, and the fact that Bonaire continues to maintain our position as a sustainable destination.”

During the Show, STINAPA conducted a presentation for attendees. They presented an overview of the organization, its mission and its programs and details about the Bonaire National Marine Park. They also discussed the importance of conservation and how Bonaire has evolved as a leader of conservation and preservation in not only in the Caribbean, but throughout the world.

The Bonaire Pavilion also launched their Bonaire Rocks DEMA Show contest at the Show. Attendees had the opportunity to win a variety of hotel stays, diving packages, rental cards and more on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. To enter, participants had to take a photo in one of the booths in the Bonaire Pavilion, and then upload the photo to one of their social media accounts and include the hashtag #BonaireRocks.

The highlight of the Show for the Pavilion was when representatives from Scuba Diving Magazine presented Bonaire with a plaque for the island’s 11 accolades in the 2018 Scuba Diving Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards. Bonaire secured five first place awards, including Best Shore Diving for the 25th consecutive year. The island also received three second place and two third place honors.

The annual DEMA Show, the largest trade-only event in the world for companies doing business in scuba diving, ocean water sports and adventure/dive travel industries, attracts hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of dive and travel industry professionals from around the world. In addition to providing an arena in which to conduct business and network, DEMA Show offers participants the most extensive education curriculum in the industry including DEMA-Sponsored Seminars and Exhibitor-Sponsored Seminars from participating manufacturers, travel destinations and dive certification organizations. DEMA Show is produced by DEMA, the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association. The Bonaire Pavilion will be exhibiting at the 2018 DEMA Show, which will be held November 14-18 2018 in Las Vegas, NV.
