The Shipping Inspectorate CN and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (IL&T) have organized sessions in which knowledge regarding fire prevention and firefighting on board of ships is being transferred to members of the Fire Department CN (BKCN).
These sessions consist of a theoretical and practical part. All firefighters with an operational function have participated in these sessions. In this way the fire department CN (BKCN) prepares to fulfill its legal tasks in the Caribbean Netherlands.

The sessions regarding the transfer of knowledge have been given by Floortje van Asperen Vervenne (Bonaire) and Luc van Osch (Statia), who both work for the Shipping Inspectorate CN. The firefighters on Saba will also be schooled in this matter in the near future. It is very important for the Fire Department CN to make use of the existing expertise on the islands.
