Nestled along the EEG Boulevard in Kralendijk, Grand Windsock Ocean Club is more than just a resort—it's a destination that seamlessly blends luxury, relaxation, and outstanding dining. Initially a dive and beach resort known for its high-end villas and apartments, Grand Windsock has recently taken full control of its beachfront restaurant after previously leasing it to third parties. The result? A beautifully transformed beachside dining space that offers an elegant yet laid-back atmosphere.

For those who remember the small private beach from several years ago, the transformation is nothing short of remarkable. The property has expanded, incorporating additional space to the north, while a spacious and well-equipped kitchen and bar have been constructed. The beach area is now seamlessly integrated with a series of diverse terraces, ensuring that whether you're a couple looking for a romantic dinner, a family enjoying a meal together, or a larger group celebrating a special occasion, there’s always a perfect spot for you.

A Warm Welcome and Scenic Ambience
Upon arrival for dinner, we were warmly greeted by a friendly staff member and guided to our table by the water. Walking past the open kitchen, the sophisticated bar, and the cozy pizzeria—tucked neatly around the corner—it became evident that Grand Windsock takes pride in its refined, yet inviting, setup. While we didn't try the pizza, the enthusiastic reactions from nearby diners suggested that it’s worth a visit on its own.
The service was prompt and attentive, with our drinks arriving swiftly despite the restaurant being reasonably busy. The relaxed, yet professional, approach of the staff made us feel at ease, setting the stage for what promised to be an enjoyable dining experience.
A Flavorful Journey
Our group of three opted for two appetizers, three main courses, and two desserts. We began our meal with the Spicy Spanish Garlic Shrimps and the Smoked Carpaccio. The shrimp dish, served in a house-made secret Spanish sauce, left us intrigued and delighted—its flavors were rich, well-balanced, and perfectly complemented the seafood. As for the Smoked Carpaccio, it was a more familiar combination of Parmesan cheese, arugula, walnuts, and pesto mayonnaise. While the flavors harmonized beautifully, we felt that slicing the carpaccio a bit thicker could have enhanced the texture.

For the main course, we selected the Karni Stoba, Caribbean Spareribs, and the Catch of the Day. The Karni Stoba, a local beef stew, was prepared in traditional Bonairean style and, upon request, served with rice. The flavors were deep and comforting, embodying the essence of island cuisine. The Caribbean Spareribs, also featuring a house-made secret sauce, stood out. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, they were a true highlight of the meal.

The Catch of the Day was another standout dish—perfectly pan-seared and served with creamy mashed potatoes, chorizo, local spinach, and a white wine sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection, its crispy skin adding texture to the delicate, flaky interior. The combination of flavors was well thought out, offering a satisfying yet light dining option.
Despite the generous portion sizes, we made room for dessert. Our choices? The classic Dame Blanche and a Caribbean specialty, Quesillo. The Dame Blanche, a staple on our table thanks to one of our dining companion’s love for it, was everything it should be—silky vanilla ice cream draped in luscious chocolate sauce. But the true star of the evening was the Quesillo, a traditional Caribbean flan infused with coconut and Malibu. This unexpected twist made for a memorable finale, with its smooth texture and tropical undertones leaving a lasting impression.
A Complete Beachfront Experience
What sets Grand Windsock apart from other dining establishments is its ability to offer more than just a meal—it delivers an entire experience. Whether you’re enjoying a relaxed lunch, a lively dinner, or simply soaking up the sun with a cocktail in hand, the restaurant’s inviting beachfront setting enhances every moment. The easy-access staircase leading into the sea is a thoughtful touch, ensuring that guests of all mobility levels can enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Bonaire before or after their meal.
Beyond regular dining, Grand Windsock Ocean Club also hosts special events, such as BBQ Madness Sundays and Saturday Happy Hour from 3–7 PM, adding to the lively yet sophisticated atmosphere that makes it a must-visit.
