Xp Bonaire Feature Story
LOT1038 was first established on Curacao in 2006, by Ruud Zegwaart and was located at Landhuis Siberie. When Ruud came to live on Curacao in 2008, the first store of 200m2 opened its doors with mostly in- and outdoor furniture and tiles.
Ruud, a business economist and a passionate career musician, DJ and producer has had every dream come true in his life, as he himself states. Ruud calls himself “a businessman with a sense of design”. When he moved to Curacao, he dove right into the furniture business, especially into researching the quality and materials suited to our harsh climate and increased his assortment with accessories, fabrics, lights and much more, selecting the best brands and quality he could find and, of course, moved his ever-growing store.
Erik
Erik Twint joined LOT1038 in 2011 and is Head Stylist, Ruud’s business partner for the last 6 years, and Director of LOT1038 Bonaire. In his early childhood, Erik remembers frequently redecorating his room and the living room in his parents’ home. He moved from restyling his childhood room to taking flower arrangement courses, to studying interior design to a business career. During his interior design internship, Erik lived on Curacao and returned, as he thought for a little break after his studies, but as many of us know, never to leave again. He applied for a job at several stores, but LOT1038 was the only one to respond and looking back, you can say, it was meant to be.
LOT1038 Bonaire
On July 23, 2020, the new LOT1038 store on Bonaire opened its doors, housed together with Bottles Bonaire. The showroom brings the furniture, decorative items, textures and fabrics closer to the customer who is welcome to try, feel, touch, see and smell everything in person.
The spacious store, located on Kaya Industria, showcases indoor and outdoor furniture, fabrics, tiles, accessories, lights and much more. Erik and Ruud frequently visit the island, store and customers. The team welcomes you to pass by and experience the items in person and take advantage of the knowledgeable staff who are ready to advise you in any way possible. You will find well-known brands like Vondom, Piet Boon, Pedrali, Kartell, Moooi and Fatboy, to name just a few.
Nanny
Nanny Gomez, who originally came from Saba, joined the LOT1038 team 3 years ago. Nanny asked to move to Bonaire and became Supervisor of the store. She speaks multiple languages and is your primary point of contact.
Interior Design Services
The LOT1038 team of stylists & interior designers offers their services; from advice in best materials for interior and exterior use and placing, color selections and material choices to complete turn key, ready to enjoy projects, including mood boards, drawings and 3d digital impressions.
No matter the size of the project: a restaurant, a hotel, a private or rental accommodation, a room or a space, the team stands ready to advice.
Depending on the producer or supplier, any guarantee will be 100% passed on to the customer. Ask for their advice in choosing the right materials, items and fabrics suiting our climate and your placing of it. The store and showroom assortments are restocked weekly, but any custom order will arrive normally on the island between 7 to 12 weeks.
Ho-Ho Holidays
For the holidays, LOT1038 will have, for the first-time, artificial Christmas trees from the Vondels brand in store and glass ornaments. Pass by, have a look and get to know the team.
