On 9 January 2018, a search team consisting of the Investigation Cooperation Team (RST) and the National Criminal Investigation Department in Bonaire (Rijksrecherche) carried out a search in the investigation called "Caldera" in collaboration with Customs BES.
The investigation "Caldera" investigates the suspicion that two employees of the Department of Spatial Planning and Management (DROB) of the Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) are guilty of forgery and official corruption.
The search took place in a house on the Kaya Aavelino Cecilia and in the presence of the judge-commissioner (RC) and the public prosecutor (OVI).No arrests were made. The research team will evaluate all the results of the research in the coming period and interrogate the suspects at a later stage.
The suspicion in this investigation relates to behaviors that are related to activities that have been carried out within DROB. DROB has a public function and the research team does not rule out that citizens in contacts with DROB have seen signs of suspicious behavior.
