Xp Bonaire Feature Story
Club Boulevard, located on the oceanfront boulevard, opened its first-floor restaurant and bar in November, 2022. The club made its name with much-needed club nights. After the long pandemic, everyone missed dancing, music and social get-togethers and the club was welcomed into Bonaire’s night life with open arms.
Lunch, Saturday Brunch & Bar Bites
Wilco Hoekman, chef at the club, fine-tuned his menu and in June, 2023, will introduce, together with the restaurant and bar manager team, Christian and Lisa, weekday lunch, Saturday brunch and small bar bites along with the existing dinner menu.
Wilco
Wilco came to the island in 2019, just before the corona pandemic brought the whole island to a standstill.
Even though Wilco wanted to become a baker when he was a small boy, with no regrets, he followed his parents' advice to become a cook because he couldn’t get out of bed in the mornings.
Wilco worked in different well-known restaurants in the Netherlands and decided that he wanted to see different countries while he was still young and healthy. Bonaire became the destination that offered a smooth transition to a foreign region, but with a familiar culture and language.
After working at Brass Boer for only 5 months, the corona pandemic hit the island and he took on different jobs in hospitality to keep himself busy. He was asked to join the Club Boulevard team in December, 2021. Of course, Club Boulevard had to go through all the pandemic delays before it could finally open in November, 2022.
Chris and Lisa
Christian Silva and Lisa Venselaar became the new manager team for the restaurant and bar in March, 2023. The two are well known in the hospitality industry and, as they stated themselves, “A little while ago we received an offer to take over this beautiful hotspot in the center of Kralendijk. We didn’t have to think twice about it. With several years of experience in the hospitality industry and a love for what we do, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for us.”
The restaurant
The club is situated on the first floor on the oceanfront boulevard and overlooks the Caribbean Sea and part of Klein Bonaire. The air-conditioned club has a tasteful interior with comfortable couches, armchairs and a beautiful, eye-catching bar.
Dinner
The club’s restaurant serves dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings from 5 – 10 pm.
The menu is a delicious mix of world and Caribbean cuisine. Leche di tigre, a freshly caught white fish marinated in citrus and fresh herbs is one of their appetizer creations, as well as the delicious charcuterie platter. Both are perfect to share.
The slow cooked lamb shank and blue marlin with potato confit are in high demand, and a cheese platter is also on the menu to make the dinner complete.
Lunch
For those who try to it keep cool during the day, Club Boulevard is the perfect restaurant with a great ocean view.
Lunch is served Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 4 pm.
Among the many things on the lunch menu, you will find a club sandwich with grilled chicken and mango chutney.
Of course, their Dutch special can’t be missed. Broodje Kroket, a meat croquette sandwich, only better. The homemade sate croquette sandwich is served with sweet and sour pickles and curry mayo.

The lunch special is a soup of the day with a small charcuterie of fresh fish, shrimp, homemade bread and many other items that are fresh and change daily.
Saturday Brunch
Saturday brunch is from 11 am – 3 pm serving freshly baked bread and croissant, tropical fruit, charcuterie, pasta salad, brownies and muffins. Many other items are also available to add, including your favorite mimosa or pancakes.
Bites menu
The bar bites, like fried shrimp or a homemade meat croquette, go perfectly with a drink or have fresh oysters with your bubbles when you only have a small appetite.
