Bonaire’s culinary scene is ever expanding and stays exciting with new ideas and twists that the owners bring to the table. We can now welcome another Food Truck to our list of quick and easy eateries, yet with high quality ingredients and preparation by a chef who cooks with passion.
We are talking about the BURGER BAR, located at Kaya J.N.E. Craane 44, at the oceanfront boulevard just after the regatta house and right next to the Venezuelan consulate. The Burger Bar just recently opened its doors and owner, Dior, is excited. After a long wait, he has made his dream come true, preparing his favorite food, burgers, in an easy and casual setting with a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea right in front of him.
Dior (27) was born on Aruba. At 12 years old, he was the youngest grill master on the island when he started working at a BBQ restaurant on weekends. He successfully finished his studies in culinary arts and science. After working in several restaurants, resorts and hotels Dior wanted to leave the island and went to further his studies in the Netherlands.
It became clear that the studies were not beneficial to him. While vacationing on Bonaire, where his mother had moved several years earlier, he and his mother had the opportunity to buy a restaurant, Boudoir, where he could be co-owner and chef. Even though it was a great opportunity, Dior felt he still wanted to experience more before settling into his own business.
He started working at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel as a simple line cook and worked his way up to Executive Chef of the resort within a year’s time. After some challenging years and tons of new experiences, Dior was ready for some change. A food truck was part of many conversations between Dior and his mother and the idea of what he could do out of a simple food truck became an exciting challenge and new goal.
After half a year organizing and going through the permit process, Dior is ready for his customers with Burger Bar.
Opening hours for now are:
Sat – Tue 12 pm – 7 pm
Fr. 12pm - 11pm
Closed on Wednesdays
Opening hours could change according to demand.
Dior will serve you his Burger favorites like:
* Tuna steak burger:
Buttered Brioche bun, a 220 gram tuna steak, wasabi sesame mayo sauce, wakame and rucola
*Crispy chicken filet:
Buttered brioche, crispy seasoned chicken, ranch dressing, buffalo sauce, blue cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions
*Catch of the day:
Buttered brioche, Catch of the day, tartar sauce, pickled onions, avocado, rucola
*The classic burger:
Buttered brioche, 230 gram beef patty, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard
*The vegan burger:
Whole wheat vegan bun, falafel patty, vegan seasoned mayo, hummus, mixed veggies, lettuce
*Chef’s choice number 1. :
Buttered brioche bun, 230 gram beef patty, steak sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, pickles, tomato, onion, lettuce
For the little ones :
Mini bun, 100 gram beef patty, cheddar cheese, and fries
