Bonaire has been awarded during the DEMA show in Las Vegas by the representatives of Scuba Diving Magazine. Bonaire was presented with a plaque for the island’s 2019 Scuba Diving Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards. Bonaire secured seven awards.
First place Shore Diving for the 26th consecutive year and Macro Diving. The island also received second place for beginner diving, third place for advanced diving and forth place for Best overall dive destination, underwater photography and best value.
‘Having won these awards shows that Bonaire’s Diving product is unique and has lots of potential. Bonaire is known as a Divers Paradise and it remains one of our core tourism products. These awards will be featured in digital platforms and within the database of Scuba Diving Magazine, which has an extensive reach worldwide’, commented Malinda Hassell, Marketing Manager of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. ‘In addition Tourism Corporation Bonaire started discussing together with Dive Operators and partners the enhancement of Bonaire’s Dive product. We are analyzing our current product, what we offer, a look at other Dive destinations, our reefs and marine environment and many other topics. Many Caribbean islands are now getting very aggressive in their promotions as a Dive destination, we must also take this into account as this can have an impact in our Dive Market Share. For 2019 we are looking into the refreshment of Bonaire’s Dive product, this will be in synergy with all our Dive related partners and operators.’
