Presentation website observation.org
Date: Tuesday, 25th of July 2017
Time: 7 - 8 pm
On Tuesday evening, Jul 25 from 7-8PM at CIEE , Kaya Gob. Debrot 26 , STINAPA will hold a presentation about the website Observation.org.
The goal of the presentation is to give the interested public more clarity about the website and the usefulness of entering own observations. Extensive attention will be paid to the functioning of the website, how to look up species observations and their locations, as well as entering observations. This way, we want to challenge the hobbyist to determine observed species. With more registered observations, the website will give a better impression of the spread of certain species and species diversity, as well as the size of the population of a particular species. Think about birds, plants, insects, fish, etc.
Currently, relatively little is known about the population sizes of sharks and rays. Occasionally, divers will encounter one, but this knowledge is rarely shared. The same goes for some bird species. Therefore, it is important that divers and other hobbyists are informed about this website and realize it’s value so they would share their own observations and contribute to research. Everyone is welcome to the presentation on Tuesday July 25 from 7 at CIEE.
